The benefits of A Picnic Table For Toddlers

There are several benefits to be gotten if you make the choice to pick a small-scale table which has been designed for toddlers to use. This is often a great way to help them to feel a little bit more independent. It is possible to leave them sitting around the table with no fear or worry that they may perhaps topple from a great height and do themselves an injury.

These types of tables have been manufactured so that they have all the things that are necessary for children to feel safe and secure while ensuring that the parent is also happy with the structure. A typical table for kids is made so that when a child is seated on the chair or on the bench, they will be able to keep their feet on the ground or on the grass. This enables a great feeling of stability and comfort for both the mother and the child.

The simple act of being able to touch the ground also gives a child a feeling of independence. They no longer have to wait for someone to lift them on or off a chair that may be a little higher off the ground. The ability to sit at a table on your own also helps a child to further develop their overall co-ordination skills.

Bananagrams

For those that are fans of word games, there is no choice quite as versatile and fast paced as Bananagrams. This game comes in a small, banana-shaped pouch, filled with 144 letter tiles. The game is extremely portable- great for trips and outings. In addition, it can be played in just ten minutes or so, making it a great choice for when you are waiting for something. Playing Bananagrams is easy and there are plenty of good strategies to help you win this game.

Bananagrams is played by dealing a certain number of letter tiles to each player, the actual number depending on the total number of players in any given round. Once tiles are dealt, each player turns them over and starts to form words with them. This works much like Scrabble, except that each player is creating their own individual word grid. There is no taking turns in Bananagrams; everybody works on their words independently. If any player finds that they don’t have sufficient letters to continue, they may call “peel” and everybody draws another tile. This continues until there are no tiles left to draw. At this point, the first player to use all their tiles is declared the winner, as long as all their words check out as legitimate.

Having a good base of vocabulary will greatly help in consistently winning Bananagrams. It’s also a good idea to look up some simple words that use unusual letter like Q, Z and J. Another good suggestion is to build a large base of 4-letter words with a silent E. Many letters can be arranged into this type of word and it will help you organize your hand quicker. With Bananagrams, there is no extra points for making difficult words, so using more tiles with simple words is a great approach. Finally, always be on the lookout for those words that can easily be incorporated into another word, if necessary.

Cleaning Out House

What images come to your mind when you say that phrase – “Grandma’s house”? Do you smell tempting aromas of special family meals? What lasting bits of advice ring in your ears? Do you have the recipe for a traditional family favorite that takes you back in time when you take the first bite?

Grandparents are a rich source of history, tradition, wisdom, and unconditional love. We wish their influence was unending, but time will not allow that. At some point, Grandma and Grandpa’s children are faced with moving or emptying the contents of a home that is filled with memories.

As a professional organizer and a child who has both moved and emptied her parents’ belongings, I offer these suggestions for making that process easier.

1. Plan the clean out day(s) ahead of time. Set the date, inform all family members, ask for RSVP. Gather packing materials, markers, Ziplocs, and trash bags. Choose a charity for unwanted items. Be ready with drinks and a quick lunch for all.

2. Take care to be both inclusive and sensitive. Each family member is dealing with strong emotions. Decide on a “time-out” signal that means “I/you need a break!” with no questions asked. The message being – all are welcome, we care, and please respect the feelings of others.

3. Decide on an equitable division of belongings. My mother let each child make requests for things that were meaningful to them before she moved. Color-coded stickers placed on desired items throughout the home, or even a draft-pick-style event would work

4. Get an expert opinion on valuables. These are two appraisal organizations that can steer you to the expert you need: Appraisers Association of America at appraisersassoc.org, or the American Society of Appraisers at appraisers.org.

5. Make a deadline for pick up. Be clear from the start that anything left in the grandparents’ house by a certain date will be delivered to charity with NO exceptions. Schedule a pick up of larger furniture items for donation on that date if needed.

With a little planning and a lot of patience, emptying the family home can be rich with memories and fun. Take time during lunch to play, “I remember when…” Building character through strong examples, that is what family gatherings are all about.

Rear Seat of Sit and Stand Strollers

Rear seats or back seats in most sit and stand strollers can be easily removed. These back seats can be removed from the stroller to allow the stroller to convert to the standing option and suits a toddler. The rear seat is a great option for parents who want to have the choice of whether their toddler will sit or stand. Some sit and stand strollers only have one seat for the smaller child and then the sit/stand platform for the older child.

Purchasing a stroller with the option of two actual stroller seats may be more suitable to some families. Although most of these strollers have a standing platform and a small sitting platform for the older child it may be more suitable for an actual stroller seat for the second child. With the rear seat, that is stroller style, the older child can be placed in the rear seat and be just as safe as the child in the front seat. This may also ease the mind of parents who are worried about the safety of the child sitting on a seating platform of a regular sit and stand stroller.

The back seat also has the option to be removed. Removing the rear seat will convert the stroller into a regular sit and stand stroller. There is still a standing and sitting platform that the older child will be able to use. Overall, choosing a sit and stand stroller with an actual back seat is a feasible option for children who may tire quickly. The sear will comfortably sit the older child and cause no discomfort for the child in the front seat of the stroller.
