The Benefits of Breastfeeding Your Baby

Breastfeeding has many benefits to it and can save money on formula as well. Formula is expensive so this is one of the many reasons moms choose to breastfeed. It is also a natural way to give your baby the nourishment they need. This is the best way to feed your newborn as this substance is made to nourish your baby and will not upset baby’s tummy.

Breastfeeding has another benefit to moms. It can help with shedding weight that was gained during pregnancy. Mothers should maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle and drink plenty of fluids. This helps keep up with production of breast milk.

Breast milk is a great way to feed your newborn. It is all natural and has all the nutrients your baby needs. There are classes and tips that can be learned and most hospitals offer them to all mothers. Breastfeeding can create a special bond between mother and baby.

Listed below are some tips to help you while you Breastfeed:

· Deciding if you will be breastfeeding should be made at the time your baby is born. Starting within the first three hours of birth is a great time. This can help your baby adapt to the breast rather than the bottle.

· It may take about 3 weeks to finally succeed with breastfeeding and to adjust to your baby’s needs.

· You should learn as much as you can about breastfeeding from a variety of sources. You can even talk to a friend who has breastfed.

· If you experience any difficulties, you should talk to your doctor as they can help you.

· You need to keep the breast and nipple clean at all times to prevent any infections or thrush to baby. Avoid using any lotions or perfumes while breastfeeding.

· Make sure you drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and to make sure your body continues to produce an adequate supply of breast milk for baby.

· Wear a bra that will protect your breasts when you are not breastfeeding baby.

· Try to write down how much breast milk your baby consumes at each feeding. Try to keep baby on a routine and keep track of how long they feed at each breast. It’s hard to know how much they eat, so tracking time works.

Ideas For Great Costumes

Halloween can be a blast, but it often catches you by surprise. It’s a fun holiday, but it’s not one that you likely plan ahead for. Usually, you don’t think about it in the mad shuffle of work and home responsibilities until maybe a week before hand if you’re lucky, and then you find yourself scrambling to find a Halloween costume. If you’ve been invited to a Halloween party, you certainly don’t want to show up dressed as yourself. That’s about as stodgy as you can get. If you don’t have one, relax. You can find plenty of great costumes for Halloween online. Check out these awesome Halloween ideas.

One great idea for a Halloween costume is to dress as your favorite movie character. The list is endless. You can dress up like the Iron Man or sport the latest duds of your favorite Toy Story character. If you’re feeling like a hellish crime fighter, why not go as Hellboy and be the toughest overcoat in the party? The Flinstones are always a hit, and a great opportunity for a whole group to dress up and get in on the fun of a themed costume. If you’re feeling like a little Oz, try being Dorothy and follow a rainbow. Marilyn Monroe always steals away the party. When it comes to movies, you can choose contemporary or classic, zany or the latest blockbuster.

These days patriotic costumes for Halloween are very popular. You can go as Miss Liberty, Betsy Ross, or George Washington and help found a nation. If you’re looking to show your sexy yet patriotic side, there’s the woman’s sexy sailor stormy sky costume or a sexy sailor captain. There are a number of early American varieties available, including colonial and Revolutionary War general. Uncle Sam is always a hit, with red, white and blue hat, pants, and jacket. You can even get a red, white and blue wig and go as a punk Uncle Sam.

Dressing like the Renaissance is also a Halloween hit and great for couples. She can go as a tavern wench while he goes as a medieval tavern man. There are costumes for queens and kings, knights, peasants, warrior kings, nobleman. Lady Marian is a popular Halloween character, available in adult and child sizes.

Newborn Baby Clothing

Well I guess baby isn’t really considered a newborn anymore but I wanted to keep the consistency with my other articles. These are the months of real growth and development with regards to mobility. Baby has no doubt found her way around the living room and has realized that there are many other rooms in a house too, and they have all kinds of cupboards, drawers, and other fun stuff to get into!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to ensure that baby is comfortably dressed during these early stages of development. Tight jeans and corduroys really hinder their performance and mobility which can unintentionally affect their self-confidence. Well, maybe I’m exaggerating but if baby can’t seem to stand up one day she certainly won’t realize that it’s her jeans that are in the way.

So for sizes 9-12 months be sure to have plenty of comfortable cotton clothes on hand. I would suggest at least seven 2-piece outfits to ensure you have enough to get you through at least five days without doing laundry. Depending on the size of baby you might find that she’s wearing more of size 12 months around this time. Every baby is different and every clothing manufacturer is different.

Keeping in mind the time of year, I always prefer cotton pants with either a long sleeve or short sleeve bodysuit and then a sweater or sweatshirt to throw over top if it’s cool. Baby continues to crawl during this period so I would suggest that you continue to have plenty of body suits on hand in order to protect her belly. I still prefer long pants over shorts in order to further protect her from carpet burns and splinters (read crawling on deck).

As soon as baby attempts to walk, run out to your local kids shoe store and get her walking boots. It is so important that babies are properly fitted for their first pair of shoes. Said shoes should actually be ankle boots that tie up and they are well worth the price ($50-$100). They are the only type of shoes that will provide your baby with the proper ankle support at this crucial stage. They will also help with that “drunken soldier” stumble she’s got going on! In all honesty, I have seen far too many babies trying to walk wearing cheap, soft, Velcro shoes.
